Boy and Little Girl

Boy was watching as little girl went off
Her silhouette got smaller
You should've seen his expression
Contorted devastation

He wanted to speak but choked himself
The words just would not sound

Please stay another day
I don't know why but I can't deny
This feeling in my chest

He panicked, afraid
He did not want to lose sight of her
He dug in his pockets
Then he found a secret weapon

He ran up to her screaming her name
And this time the words came out

Please stay another day
Here is some chocolate you have have it but
You'll have to share some of that with me
Would you like to try? It's really sweet.

Little girl smiled, and then she said
I would love to
Let's go sit by the building blocks and enjoy this feast

So she stayed another day
She doesn't know why but she can't deny
This feeling in her chest

They played another day
Boy and little girl
Oblivious to anything else
